Elevator Cab Refurbishment
May 2026
Capital Improvement · Vertical Transportation

A refined first impression, from lobby to penthouse.

Our elevator cab fixtures are the most-touched surfaces in the building. This proposal refurbishes the operating panels across all nine elevators — and the Board is asked to choose between two finish options: Option A with engraved metal numerals, or Option B with high-contrast black numerals.

Existing Panel

In service · Original fixture
  • Worn black caps, visible discoloration
  • Faded numerals, partially illegible
  • Uneven illumination across buttons
  • Dated look, inconsistent with lobby finish

Engraved Metal Numerals

Minimalist · Tone-on-tone
  • Numerals engraved into the button face — same metal tone
  • Soft, refined hospitality-grade appearance
  • Lets the brushed stainless finish lead visually
  • Best for an understated luxury aesthetic

High-Contrast Black Numerals

Legible · ADA-friendly
  • Filled black numerals on the brushed face
  • Highest readability for all residents and guests
  • Strongest visibility for low-light or aging vision
  • Best for everyday practical usability

02Why it matters

Shared benefits — both options
i.

Presentation

The cab is the first interior space every visitor sees after the lobby. A refreshed panel restores the cohesive luxury finish residents associate with the property.

ii.

Legibility & ADA

Recessed buttons with engraved numerals and integrated Braille meet current accessibility standards and eliminate the readability issues on the existing caps.

iii.

Durability

Stainless face plate and sealed button assemblies are rated for high-traffic commercial use — significantly longer service life than the current plastic caps.
